Palestinian Heritage Center: Art & Crafts

Palestinian Heritage Center: Art & Crafts

The Palestinian Heritage Center (PHC) was established in 1991 by Maha Saca. The Center tirelessly works to promote, revive, and preserve Palestinian cultural heritage, especially the arts of embroidery and traditional dressmaking. The PHC’s main goal is to educate the public about the meaning and significance of Palestinian cultural heritage and the need to protect this heritage from loss or misappropriation. It provides lectures, workshops, shows, exhibitions, and resources to visitors as well as participates in international events, showcasing to the world what it offers those who come to the Center itself.

The Center produces fair trade, handmade embroidery, crafted by women from villages and refugee camps around the city of Bethlehem. The PHC also creates its own posters and postcards drawn from images in its photographic collection. It has received several national and international awards for its continuous efforts in support of Palestinian cultural heritage.
