Aboud: the city of flowers
Aboud is a village 22km northwest of Ramallah. The countryside of Aboud is very beautiful, full of citrus and olive trees. That’s why the village is also called “city of flowers”. Locals also claim that the name of the village comes from the Biblical Prophet Obadiah.
Some archeological findings have been made in Abouds surroundings from the Roman, Byyantine, Crusader and Ottoman period. For instance, the Al-Maqata: an ancient Roman quarry and burial place. Other big attractions for visitors are the Church of Saint Barbara and the Saint Mary’s Church.
