The Sugar Mills Jericho

Sugar cane production flourished as one of the main economic activities during the first great Muslim dynasty from 661 - 750 Ce. The Sugar Mills in Jericho (also known as Tawahin Al Sukkar) feature a well-preserved industrial installation for sugar manufacture. The remains consist of an aqueduct, press, mill house, refinery, furnace, kitchen and a storage house. Furthermore, you will see the leftovers of water pipelines as the mills were run by water energy. You will find these Sugar Mills half way between the ruins of Tel Al-Sultan and the Mount of Temptation.
